FeedWindow FAQ
Concise answers about the calculator, its forecast, and how to interpret it.
- What is FeedWindow?
- FeedWindow is a free browser-based solunar calculator for planning hunting and fishing trips. It shows seven days of major and minor periods plus sun and moon information for a searched place.
- Is FeedWindow free and does it require an account?
- Yes, it is free. It requires no account, subscription, download, or app installation.
- What locations does FeedWindow support?
- FeedWindow supports places worldwide that can be found through its location search. Forecast events are calculated for the returned coordinates and displayed in the place’s local time zone.
- What is a major solunar period?
- A major period is an approximately two-hour window centered on the moon being overhead or underfoot.
- What is a minor solunar period?
- A minor period is an approximately one-hour window centered on moonrise or moonset.
- What does the one-to-five rating mean?
- It is a relative planning score based on proximity to new or full moon and whether a major or minor period falls near sunrise or sunset. It is not a success probability.
- Does FeedWindow include weather or tides?
- No. It focuses on solunar and sun/moon timing. Check dedicated official sources for weather, tides, water conditions, safety notices, and regulations.
- Are solunar forecasts guaranteed to predict animal activity?
- No. Weather, water, habitat, season, pressure, regulations, and species behavior also matter. Solunar times should be one input in a broader trip plan.
- Does FeedWindow store my location?
- The astronomy calculation runs on your device. Place searches go to the Open-Meteo Geocoding API. If you grant browser geolocation permission, your coordinates are used on the device for the calculation.
